The UK Tier 5 Visa Application Process

The UK tier 5 visa program is available to applicants from Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Monaco and Australia. It is designed for young people aged 18 through 30 who wish to study, work or live in the United Kingdom for a long period. Approved applicants are able to stay in the UK for up to two full years and can work as long as they are not sports professionals or doctors in training or self-employed. You should familiarize yourself with all the requirements before applying. Self-employment has some stipulations that will allow you to set up shop, but you have to follow the rigid guidelines in order to do so.

Applicants will be required to show proof of citizenship from one of the participating countries, proof of age for eligibility as well as proof of funds in order to support themselves during their stay. There are also requirements from each country such as allocation limits and sponsorship requirements. If the annual allocation has been met for the country in which you are a citizen, you will not be able to enter the UK tier 5 visa program until the following year.

Overseas British applicants are not subject to the annual allocation limits and are not required to have sponsorship. No spouse, partner or dependent will be allowed to enter the country with the applicant; they will be required to obtain their own visa in order to do so. Where dependents are concerned, individuals who have children under the age of 18 who they are responsible for financially will not be considered for approval. There will be documented proof required to ensure that the applicant has no outstanding or current responsibility to a child if they are a parent. The UK tier 5 visa scheme requirements and qualifications can be and should be reviewed before applying.

Learning whether or not you are eligible to sign up for a UK Tier 5 visa is the first step to what could be one of the best experiences of your life. You can learn a lot by living and working in another country, and the United Kingdom is the home of quite a few culturally diverse countries. Becoming a temporary citizen, you can learn and experience the culture in a way that isn’t possible during a normal vacation.

To qualify for a UK Tier 5 visa, the first qualification is that you live within one of the countries that is participating in the Youth Mobility Scheme. These countries include Australia, Monaco, New Zealand, Canada and Japan.

To be eligible, you need to be of the age 18 or over but under the age of 31 when you fill in your application. It is a youth mobility visa, so you must qualify as a youth. If you are older than 31, you must apply for another form of visa, if available.

A minimum balance of “maintenance funds” must be in your account at the time you apply. This amount will vary from country to country but can be anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000.

If you are the parent or guardian or are financially responsible for anybody under the age of 18, then you will automatically have your application disqualified. You must not be financially responsible for anybody to qualify.

A UK Tier 5 visa application isn’t the easiest thing to fill out or qualify for. However, when you know that you are eligible and can qualify for it based on the information in this article, it can open up a whole new world for you. Living in the United Kingdom can be a great experience and I highly recommend you try it out.

The UK Tier 5 Visa Youth Mobility Scheme

Participating countries such as New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Monaco and Canada offer entry into the United Kingdom by using the UK tier 5 visa scheme. Applicants that are approved are able to work, live and study for up to two years in the United Kingdom and are given certain benefits that other nationals receive. The applicants must meet certain requirements, such as being between the ages of 18 and 30 and being able to prove citizenship from one of the participating countries.

Overseas British citizens and nationals are given an exception and are considered on all applications for approval if the necessary requirements are met. There are annual allocation limits that are stipulated for each country and the British applicants are not subject to that rule in addition to not having to be sponsored. Under the UK tier 5 visa program, applicants are not able to bring along any dependents, a spouse or a partner. Each individual will be required to obtain their own visa. Applicants who have children under the age of 18 that either live with them or are dependent on them for financial support will be refused based on those grounds. There will need to be proof given that there is no responsibility to the children at the time of the application if they do so exist.

Those who plan on working in the UK during their stay will need to obtain an insurance number and open a UK bank account. Due to the level of benefits that are available to visa carriers, they will also be required to show proof of being able to support themselves during their stay. The funds should be documented and dated a month prior to the application process and included with the application.

If you are refused entry into the UK or are denied for any reason, you can always ask for an administrative review on your UK tier 5 visa application. Many times, denial is due to lack of documentation or incorrect information.

The UK Tier 5 Visa Uses Points to Qualify

For those looking into the UK Tier 5 Visa, make sure you get the 50 points. This can be achieved if you have the right amount of maintenance funds, are from the right place of residence, and are of the right age. If all of these requirements are met, then there is an adventure waiting for you at Westminster Abbey, Windsor Castle, or Buckingham Palace. Then you can take the London Underground or a red double-decker bus to get where you want to explore.

Changes Made

It used to be extremely difficult to enter the UK with a visa. Several years ago, the UK Tier 5 Visa was actually named the Working Holiday Visa. The problem was there were 80 categories to pick from. The standards weren’t set, so it was hard to understand the process.

Then changes were made in November 2008, which was when the new visa tier was released. With it, there came new allowances and restrictions. Many people use a visa agency to help them with it all. If they met the standards, they could start applying for jobs in Canterbury as a receptionist or the practical nurse position at Royal Borough in Kensington. The options are really unlimited in this type of adventure.

Need Certain Points

This is a points-based visa system that requires 50 points for every applicant. These points can be achieved in three ways. A person achieves 30 points just for being from Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Monaco, or Canada. Then 10 points is given for 1,600 GBP in the bank and another 10 points for being between 18 and 30.

Rejection Happens Less

Many people sighed with relief with the changes. They didn’t have to worry about arbitrary reasons for being rejected. Instead, the UK Tier 5 Visa has specific requirements to let you know if this opportunity is for you.
